James Slipp is a baritone, voice teacher, and presenter based in the Boston, MA area.
As a transgender vocalist, he is dedicated to research and advocacy for transgender singers in vocal music. He has presented his research and experience regarding transmasculine vocal pedagogy at several academic and state conferences.
He will receive his Bachelor of Music in Music Performance in May from Keene State College in Keene, NH. As a student at Keene State, James was active as a solo and choral singer at his college and in the community. He studied voice with Dr. Daniel Carberg and took secondary piano lessons with Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova. At Keene State, he sang in Keene Vocal Consort (an Early music ensemble), KSC Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, and Keene Vocal Jazz. James also enjoyed studying vocal pedagogy and composition and played euphonium in KSC Concert Band.
He also routinely collaborated with Zenith Ensemble (Keene, NH) and Viva Bach Festival (Peterborough, NH) as a Bass Scholar. Since 2024, he has also worked on the Executive Board of Zenith Ensemble, a non-profit professional Ensemble based in Keene, NH.
